The Ultimate Blog Post Template for SEO Template: How-To Blog Post

Introduction

Want your blog posts to actually rank on Google?

Forget guessing. This post gives you a plug-and-play structure that’s optimized for  both humans and search engines—so your content gets seen and converts.

Step 1: Choose a Long-Tail Keyword

Example:

Bad = “SEO”

Better = “how to write SEO blog posts that rank”

Use:

• Ubersuggest

• Google autocomplete

• AnswerThePublic

Step 2: Craft an SEO-Friendly Title

Use your keyword as close to the front as possible.

“How to Write Meta Descriptions That Get Clicks”

“Squarespace vs WordPress: Which Is Better for SEO?”

Keep it under 65 characters if possible.

Step 3: Write a Compelling Intro (with the Keyword)

Use the “P.A.S.” formula:

• Problem – what the reader is struggling with

• Agitation – why it matters

• Solution – what this post will help them achieve

Step 4: Structure With H2s and H3s

Use H2s to break up main sections, and H3s for sub-points.

Example:

• H2: Step 1: Do Keyword Research

• H3: Use Free Tools Like Ubersuggest

This keeps your post organized and scan-friendly—important for SEO and mobile.

Step 5: Use Lists and Bullet Points

Search engines love structure. So do your readers.

Turn long paragraphs into:

• Bullet points

• Checklists

• Numbered steps

Step 6: Link Internally

Link to 1–3 relevant blog posts or pages on your site.

Use anchor text like:

• “check out our local SEO tips”

• “see this meta description guide”

This builds site structure and helps with indexing.

Step 7: Add a CTA

Don’t let your readers hit the back button. Guide them to a next step:  • Book a call

• Download a freebie

• Read a related blog

Use buttons or bold links at the end of your post.

Bonus: Write a Meta Description

Even though this isn’t visible on the page, it affects click-through rate.

Example:

“Learn how to write SEO-friendly blog posts using this step-by-step template—great for  beginners.”

Conclusion

Don’t wing your blog posts. Use a repeatable structure that checks both SEO and  reader boxes.

Once you’ve written a few using this format, you’ll write faster and rank higher.
